The US Air Force currently uses a hybrid helicopter and aircraft called the CV-22B Osprey (The Marines use an almost similiar aircraft, the MV-22 Osprey). It has the ability to take off like a helicopter and transition to horizontal flight once airborne.

This lovely piece of equipment is something I wanted to include in GTA V, and you can choose between the various flight modes as well (It replaces the Velum). The rear cargo doors can be opened, and 10 people could theoretically fit inside, but the AI is too dim to do so (it's not my fault; the back of the standard Titan is also inaccessible to them).

There are obvious bulletholes, glass can be broken by gunshots, and the body is covered in mud.
